CRYSTALLIZATION
Project background
Meadowlands is to Manhattan as the kitchen is to a dining room. The former has been sacrificed for the prosperity of the latter. Instead of being hidden from the public, logistic landscape needs to be revealed, observed and celebrated.
Starting with the study of how natural forces can form and reform the edge condition of different materials at the micro-scale, I developed this concept further to a regional strategy that re-evaluates, de-constructs, re-distributes and re-constructs materials that have long been neglected or disposed. As a result, a continuous operation of reforming a border is responding to sea level rise as well as inviting novel encounters between humans and materials.
